📚 Friends of Sequatchie County Public Library Host Book Sale & Silent Auction, October 21-24

Book lovers across the Sequatchie Valley have a reason to clear their shelves and their calendars this fall. The Friends of Sequatchie County Public Library are bringing back their popular Book Sale & Silent Auction, a four-day event that combines treasure hunting with community support-and every dollar raised goes directly back to strengthening library services for local readers.

πŸ—“οΈ Event Schedule & Access

The sale runs October 21-24 at the Fair Building, 103 Heard Street. The event opens with a members-only preview on Wednesday, October 21, from 10 AM to 6 PM. Those not yet part of the Friends can join at the door for just $5 and gain immediate access to the full selection of gently-loved books and unique auction items.

Thursday and Friday, October 22-23, the sale opens to the general public from 10 AM to 6 PM, giving everyone in the community a chance to browse and bid. Saturday, October 24, wraps up with Fill-a-Bag Day from 9 AM to 1 PM-a popular option where shoppers can stuff a bag with books for one low price. The silent auction closes at noon that same day.

πŸ’° What the Proceeds Support

All revenue from the sale and auction benefits the library directly, funding programs, materials, and services that serve Sequatchie County residents. By shopping or bidding, community members invest in local literacy and learning opportunities that ripple through schools, families, and lifelong readers across the region.

πŸ’‘ Why This Matters

Community book sales like this one do more than clear shelf space-they connect readers with affordable books while sustaining the institutions that anchor local learning. For a rural county library, fundraising events like this are often essential to expanding collections, hosting programs, and keeping doors open with the resources communities deserve. ✨
