Burritt Library Announces Exciting Summer Reading Program with Special Events and Prizes

The Burritt Library is gearing up for an exciting summer with a series of engaging events designed to encourage children to dive into reading during the school break. The library has announced a lineup of entertaining performances and activities scheduled throughout June and July, offering something for readers of all ages.

The Summer Reading Program kicks off with Mr. Science Show on Friday, June 5 at 12:30 p.m., promising hands-on demonstrations that make science fun and accessible. The program continues with Paul Strickland, a talented storyteller and folklore expert, on Thursday, June 11 at 10 a.m., offering children a chance to experience the magic of traditional tales.

Later in the month, Bob Tarter’s Live Animal Show will take center stage on Thursday, June 25 at 4 p.m., bringing exotic creatures and educational entertainment to the library. The program concludes with magician Terry Hedges on Thursday, July 2 at 1 p.m., delivering wonder and amazement to young audiences.

To encourage participation, the library is offering an impressive array of prizes for children who complete reading logs during the summer. Prizes include Penworthy STEM kits and gift cards from local businesses such as The Ugly Mug, Farmer’s Storehouse, Totally Ice Cream at Fall Creek Falls, Crain’s Cup, and Mel’s Café. Children who fill out reading logs will receive raffle tickets for a chance to win these valuable prizes.

Reading log sheets will be distributed in June. Community members are encouraged to mark their calendars for these events and help inspire a love of reading in the young readers of the area.
