🤖📚 Two Family Programs in One Evening at Sequatchie County Public Library and Udderly Yum Ice Cream Shoppe

Sequatchie County families have a chance to explore robotics, STEAM activities, and Harry Potter magic in a single evening, with the library launching new hands-on programs and introducing a fresh partnership with a local ice cream shop.

🤖 October STEAM Night: Building and Coding for All Ages

The Sequatchie County Public Library is hosting October STEAM Night from 4:00 to 6:00 PM, featuring hands-on robotics, coding, and engineering activities. The program includes a dedicated Robo Explorers track for middle schoolers and general STEAM kits and activities open to everyone. The library’s new robots were purchased through a grant from the Rural Technology Fund, expanding the resources available to young learners in the county.

🍦✨ Scoops’n Stories: A New Community Partnership

At 6:00 PM, families are invited to Udderly Yum Ice Cream Shoppe for the debut of Scoops’n Stories, a brand-new program created in partnership between the library and the local ice cream shop. The first event features a Harry Potter-themed family night with storytime, a simple craft, and the chance to dress as a favorite character. Storytime and the craft are free; ice cream is available for separate purchase.

💡 What Families Should Know

Both programs happen the same evening, giving families flexibility to attend one or both. The STEAM Night runs for two hours and welcomes all ages, while Scoops’n Stories begins at 6:00 PM and offers a shorter, themed experience. Attendees are encouraged to come in costume for the ice cream shop event, adding to the magical atmosphere.

The launch of Scoops’n Stories signals the library’s growing role in creating community gathering spaces beyond the library building itself, bringing storytelling and learning into local businesses and strengthening connections across Sequatchie County.
