πŸŽ“ Sequatchie County Middle School Week Ahead: Sports, Clubs & Picture Day

Sequatchie County Middle School in Dunlap is keeping students and families busy this week with a full slate of athletic practices, club meetings, and special events. The school’s “Week at a Glance” schedule shows the energy and variety that define middle school life in the valley-from marching band rehearsals to basketball scrimmages and student clubs.

πŸ“… What’s Happening This Week

The week of October 12-16 brings a mix of athletic competition and student engagement. πŸ€ Basketball takes center stage with scrimmage games on Monday (girls at 5:00 p.m., boys at 6:00 p.m.), followed by practice sessions throughout the week. A home boys basketball game against Dayton City is scheduled for Thursday, with JV play at 4:00 p.m. and varsity at 5:00 p.m. Girls basketball practice moves to the high school facility later in the week.

Beyond the court, marching band practice runs daily from 3:15-5:30 p.m., while cheerleading and baseball workouts round out the athletic calendar. ⚾ Baseball workouts are scheduled Monday through Friday from 3:05-4:15 p.m.

✨ Special Events & Student Life

Tuesday brings two highlights: fall picture retakes and winter sports pictures, plus a popcorn reward for students with perfect September attendance during Braves Blocks. πŸ“Έ These moments help capture memories and celebrate student achievement.

Student clubs continue to thrive. πŸ“š The Harry Potter Club meets Wednesday from 3:00-4:00 p.m., while the Comic Book Club gathers Thursday at the same time. FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) meets Thursday morning at 7:00 a.m., offering early-morning connection for interested students.

πŸ’œπŸ’› Community Values in Action

The school’s motto-“Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe, Be Sequatchie”-frames the week’s activities. These events reflect how middle school serves as more than academics: it’s a place where students build friendships, develop skills, and belong to a community that cheers them on.
