🚒 First Responder Day Comes to Sparta with Live Fire and Rescue Demos
White County is honoring its first responders this Saturday with a community celebration that puts the work of firefighters, rescue crews, and emergency personnel on full display. The event offers Upper Cumberland residents a rare chance to see how their local heroes train and respond to real emergencies.
π What to Expect
First Responder Day takes place Saturday, October 24th, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Walmart parking lot in Sparta. π The event features live demonstrations that show exactly how first responders work-including a live fire training burn at 11:00 a.m. and a vehicle extrication rescue demonstration at 1:00 p.m. Visitors will see emergency vehicles up close, meet personnel from local fire, police, and EMS departments, and get photos with Smokey the Bear.

The day is designed for all ages. π― Kids can enjoy bean bag toss, photos, and other activities while families learn about fire safety. One of the most practical offerings is a free fire safety booth where residents can sign up for complimentary smoke detector installation in their homes-a service that can make a real difference in home safety.
π Community Recognition
The event honors White County’s first responders-firefighters, rescue personnel, police officers, and EMS crews-who serve and protect the community year-round. π By bringing these demonstrations to a public setting, the community gets a tangible sense of the training, skill, and courage required in emergency response work.
