🍳 Community Gathers for Annual Fall Fundraiser Breakfast with Fire Department Display

A local community center recently hosted its annual Fall Fundraiser breakfast, drawing neighbors together for a meal prepared by volunteers while celebrating local history and emergency services. The event brought together residents for both nourishment and connection, with special attention to preserving community stories.

📊 Breakfast by the Numbers

About 83 visitors attended the fundraiser breakfast, enjoying a hearty spread of scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy, grits, and beverages. Tickets were priced at $8 for adults, with all food prepared and served by dedicated volunteers. The meal reflected the kind of community-centered fundraising that keeps local organizations running and neighbors connected.

🎥 Preserving Local History

Beyond the breakfast, organizers set up a videotaping station to capture personal histories from established community members. The effort supports a University of Tennessee program dedicated to recording the stories of older Tennesseeans-a project that ensures local voices and memories are preserved for future generations. Student volunteer Bradley Mackey served as videographer for the sessions, documenting accounts that might otherwise be lost.

🚒 Fire Department Connection

The Fredonia Volunteer Fire Department participated by displaying their equipment and making firefighters available to speak with attendees. The display gave community members a chance to learn more about local emergency services and the volunteers who staff them, strengthening the bond between residents and first responders.

The event reflected the kind of grassroots organizing that keeps rural and small-town communities strong-combining practical fundraising with cultural preservation and civic engagement in a single morning.
