Or: Ord. 321 on Main Street, Early Voting Day 2, Burn Permits Start, and Saturday Night Near 38

By Thomas Seest, Dunlap.Today Β· Thursday, October 15, 2026

Thursday for Valley millennials: the group chat is arguing about kickoff time, your calendar still says “City Hall,” and the kids want to know if tomorrow’s parade is 9 or 9:30. Here’s the skim.

Yesterday’s boxes just flipped to tonight. City Hall meets at 5 p.m. with Ord. 321 and sludge still on the agenda (no decisions yet). Lady Indians host CSAS for the district final tonight β€” MaxPreps says 7, so arrive by 6 in case that’s Eastern. Early voting is day 2+ through Oct. 29 (still call for site/hours). Homecoming is tomorrow. NWS Dunlap: last hot ~89 today, Fri gusts, Sat night ~38. Burn permits start today β€” skip the wind.

⏱️ What this means for you in 30 seconds

  • Tonight, 5 p.m.: City Hall, 15595 Rankin Ave β€” Ord. 321 (1466 & 1494 Main St) + sludge proposal. City Hall 423-949-2115.
  • Tonight, soccer: CSAS at Sequatchie, District 4-A final. Lady Indians 14-1-1 vs CSAS 8-7-1. MaxPreps 7 p.m. β€” get there by 6. Winner faces McMinn Central Tue Oct 20.
  • Through Thu Oct 29: Early voting continues. Call 423-949-2431 for still-unposted site/hours. Photo ID: TN or federal.
  • Fri Oct 16: Parade ~9:30 a.m. (call ahead), pep 2:15, Alumnus 6:30, kickoff 7 vs Community. Blanket β€” night ~45, gusts ~30.
  • Weather: Today ~89. Fri 80 / gusts 25 / night ~45 gusts 30. Sat ~60 / night ~38. Burn permits required today β€” skip Fri–Sat wind.

Dunlap’s Board of Mayor and Commissioners meets tonight, Thursday, Oct. 15, 5:00 p.m. at the George L. Wagner Municipal Building, 15595 Rankin Ave. Posted agenda still includes Ordinance No. 321 amending zoning at 1466 and 1494 Main Street, a sludge mitigation proposal under Water/Wastewater/Street, a gas account adjustment, and department reports. Public comment is on the agenda.

As of late morning the meeting has not happened β€” no votes to invent. The agenda still doesn’t say which way the rezoning goes or what sludge would cost. City Hall: 423-949-2115.

What it means for you: If you drive Main Street daily or pay city water/sewer, leave early enough to be in the Commission Room by 5. Short and on-topic beats a Facebook rant three days later.

⚽ District Final Tonight β€” Arrive by 6, Not 7

Illustration for ⚽ District Final Tonight β€” Arrive by 6, Not 7

MaxPreps still lists CSAS at Sequatchie County, Thursday, Oct. 15, 7:00 p.m. as the District 4-A final. The school’s soccer page still says playoffs TBD. Recent MaxPreps home times have run an hour later than the school’s Central-time list, and CSAS is a Chattanooga (Eastern) school β€” so 7 could mean 7 ET = 6 CT. Plan to be there by 6 and you’re covered both ways.

Lady Indians: 14-1-1, 4-0 district, 9-0 at home, seven straight, 70–6 goal differential. CSAS: 8-7-1, six straight, including 7–0 over Bledsoe Tuesday. Only prior meeting: Sequatchie 1–0 on Sept. 8.

Either way, season continues: Daily Post-Athenian reporter Drew Cook says McMinn Central (District 3 runner-up) plays tonight’s winner Tue., Oct. 20. Sites/times still TBD.

Tomorrow β€” homecoming: Parade ~9:30 a.m. (library weekly; some calendars said 9 β€” call ahead), pep 2:15, Alumnus of the Year 6:30, kickoff 7 vs Community (0–8). Court winners at half. Seniors: Diana Alarcon-Landeros, Ashtyn Douglas, Kenzie Henley, Ainsley Pickett.

What it means for you: Tonight is clear and calm (low ~63) β€” last warm sideline night. Pack the blanket Thursday night for Friday’s ~45 and NW gusts to 30.
