🌡️ Record Heat Thursday Gives Way to 40-Degree Temperature Plunge This Weekend
Chase Bryant Weather is tracking a dramatic weather shift across the Tennessee Valley this week, with near-record heat Thursday followed by a significant cold front that will send temperatures tumbling by more than 40 degrees within 48 to 72 hours. The swing will be felt across the region from Murfreesboro to Chattanooga and beyond.
☀️ Thursday’s Record-Breaking Heat
Thursday is shaping up to be a scorcher, with highs expected to reach around 90 degrees across much of the area. In Murfreesboro, forecasters are calling for a high of 93 degrees-well above the previous record of 85 degrees set in 1950. Other communities will see similarly warm conditions, with Woodbury and Myrina also reaching 92 degrees, while Shelbyville, Etowah, and Dianville are expected to hit 91 degrees. Even higher elevations like Tracy City will see 83 degrees, and the Chattanooga metro area will reach 89 degrees. 🔥
❄️ The Cold Front Arrives Saturday
The dramatic turnaround begins Saturday morning, when temperatures will plummet into the 40s across the region. Saturday afternoon highs will only reach the 60s before another sharp drop overnight into Sunday morning, when lows are forecast to dip into the upper 30s and low 40s. Murfreesboro residents can expect Sunday morning lows around 37 degrees, while Dunlap and Tracy City will see 38 degrees, and Soddy-Daisy will reach 42 degrees.
💡 What Residents Should Know
The rapid temperature swing-from near 90 degrees to the 40s in just 48 to 72 hours-is significant enough to warrant preparation. Residents should be ready for the transition, particularly those with outdoor plans or heating systems that may not have been used recently. The shift will be felt across a 29-county area of the Tennessee Valley tri-state region that Chase Bryant Weather monitors. 📍
