⚖️ National Animal Law Competitions Open Registration for 2026-2027
MARC – Marion Animal Resource Connection in Sequatchie is helping connect the next generation of animal law advocates to a national competition that combines courtroom advocacy, legislative strategy, and real-world animal protection work. The opportunity draws students and professionals interested in using law as a tool for animal welfare.
📋 Two Tracks to Choose From
Competitors can select between two distinct competition formats, each designed to build different legal skills. The Appellate Advocacy track puts two-person teams in the role of appellate lawyers: teams submit a written brief and then argue both sides of a complex animal law case before a panel of judges. Entry is $50 per team. 🏛️
The Legislative Drafting & Lobbying track takes a different approach, asking competitors to draft an animal protection bill and supporting fact sheet, then present their case to mock legislators with varying levels of support for their cause. This track costs $25 per competitor and emphasizes persuasion and policy communication skills.
🗓️ Registration Deadline and Details
Registration closes October 30, 2026. The competitions are sponsored by the Animal Legal Defense Fund and represent a structured pathway for advocates to test their skills in animal law-a growing field that addresses welfare, rights, and protection across state and federal systems. ✨
