🧶 Absolute Beginner Knitting Class Comes to Pikeville

Kudzu Cottage in Pikeville is opening its doors to anyone curious about knitting with a hands-on class designed for complete beginners. Whether you’ve always wanted to learn or simply haven’t found the right moment, this November workshop offers a welcoming entry point into a craft that connects makers across the region.

📅 Class Details and What to Expect

The Absolute Beginner Knitting Class takes place on November 14th from 10:00 AM to Noon at Kudzu Cottage on Main Street in Pikeville. The class fee is $20. Instructor Linda Dorrill will guide students through the fundamentals: the basic knitting stitch, the purl stitch, and how to repair dropped stitches-those small mishaps that can happen to any knitter. By the end of the two-hour session, participants will have created a simple washcloth, giving them a tangible project to take home and a foundation for future projects.

🛍️ What to Bring

Students should bring worsted weight cotton yarn and size 7 or 8 knitting needles (either straight or circular). Kudzu Cottage specializes in high-quality quilting supplies and fine yarns, so attendees can shop for materials on-site if needed before or after class.

💡 Why This Matters

Knitting classes like this one strengthen local craft communities and create opportunities for neighbors to learn together. For those in the Sequatchie Valley and surrounding areas who have been curious about fiber arts, a structured beginner class removes the barrier of not knowing where to start. Kudzu Cottage‘s focus on serving quilting and yarn enthusiasts makes it a natural hub for these kinds of hands-on learning experiences.
