📚 Scholastic Book Fair Comes to Mary V. Wheeler Elementary School in Pikeville
Mary V. Wheeler Elementary School in Pikeville is opening its library doors to students and families for a week-long celebration of reading and learning. The Scholastic Book Fair runs October 26 through November 2, with a special Family Night event planned to coincide with the school’s STEM Night activities.
๐ What to Expect at the Book Fair
The fair invites students and families to discover new adventures, find favorite authors, and share the joy of reading together. On November 2, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., the school will host Family Night at the Book Fair during STEM Night-a chance for families to browse books, explore learning activities, and spend an evening celebrating literacy and hands-on discovery.
๐ How Purchases Support Students
Every book purchased at the fair directly supports Mary V. Wheeler Elementary’s library and STEM programs. Funds raised help update the school’s collection with new and exciting books that reflect students’ interests, while also supporting special projects and materials for students to enjoy during library and STEM time.
The school has built in a thoughtful touch: all cash purchases will be rounded up to the next whole dollar, eliminating the need for change. Those extra funds help students who are a little short on money or who don’t have funds to spend, ensuring no child leaves empty-handed. The school emphasizes that this approach reflects a commitment to Mountaineer kindness-making sure every student experiences the excitement of choosing a book.
