🎉 Free Fall Festival Comes to Whitwell Mountain This Saturday – Live Music, Pie Contest & Community Gathering
Miners Memorial Park is hosting a community celebration designed to bring neighbors together on Whitwell Mountain, with all proceeds from food sales supporting the local volunteer fire department.
π What’s Happening
The “Pie, Picnic, and Play” event takes place Saturday, October 17, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Camp Chet (5050 Pocket Road, Whitwell, Tennessee). πΆ Live music from New Grass Express will perform from 10 a.m. to noon, setting the tone for a day of family-friendly activities and locally made barbecue.
β¨ Free Activities & Community Benefits
Admission and all activities are completely free, making it accessible for families across the valley. Children can enjoy hay rides and games, while adults and families can sample locally prepared BBQ. π The best part: all food proceeds go directly to the Whitwell Mountain Volunteer Fire Department, turning a fun afternoon into meaningful community support.
π₯§ Pie Tasting Competition
Home bakers are invited to submit their family pie recipes for a community tasting competition. π Voting runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and the winning baker will receive a prize. It’s a chance to celebrate local culinary traditions and see whose recipe earns neighborhood bragging rights.
π‘ Why It Matters
According to Miners Memorial Park, the free event series is designed to strengthen community bonds during the fall season. The partnership with Thrive Regional Partnership and Trust for Civic Life reflects a broader effort to create gathering spaces where Whitwell Mountain residents can connect, celebrate together, and support local institutions like the volunteer fire department. π€
