๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Field of Honor: 250 American Flags for America’s 250th in Spencer, TN โ€” July 3, 2026

As communities across the Sequatchie Valley prepare for America’s milestone 250th birthday celebration, Spencer is stepping up with a meaningful tribute to those who have served and sacrificed. The Van Buren County Historical & Heritage Museum is organizing a patriotic display that invites neighbors to honor veterans, active military members, first responders, and loved ones who have made a difference in local lives.

The museum will create a Field of Honor on the lawn of the Old Courthouse during Spencer’s Freedom Fest 250 celebration on July 3rd. ๐ŸŽ–๏ธ The display will feature 250 American flagsโ€”one for each year of the nation’s historyโ€”each sponsored at $1 per flag. Community members can sponsor as many flags as they wish, naming the individuals they want to recognize and honor.

To participate, residents are invited to visit the Van Buren County Historical & Heritage Museum in person at 179 Veteran Square, Spencer, TN 38585. ๐Ÿ“ The museum will be open on Friday, June 20th from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM to accept donations and honoree information. Visitors simply provide the name or names of the person they wish to honor along with their $1 donation per flag.

The museum is currently working to set up a remote donation option for those unable to visit in person. โœจ Until that system becomes available, all donations and honoree submissions must be made directly at the museum during the scheduled hours. The completed Field of Honor will be displayed prominently on the Old Courthouse lawn during the Freedom Fest festivities.

“Help us fill the courthouse lawn with 250 flags for America’s 250th and honor those who have served, sacrificed, and made a difference in our lives,” the museum said in its announcement. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ For more information, contact the Van Buren County Historical & Heritage Museum directly.
