Local Gardener Seeks Reclaimed Carpet for Sustainable Growing Project

A Van Buren County resident is reaching out to the community in hopes of finding used carpet to repurpose for a gardening project. Gloria Gilbert Tindall posted a request on the Van Buren County Community Bulletin Facebook group on June 1st, seeking one room-size piece of carpet that is being replaced by local homeowners.

The request highlights a growing trend of residents finding creative ways to reuse materials for gardening and landscaping purposes. Used carpet can serve multiple functions in garden settings, including weed suppression, mulching, and soil retention, making it a valuable resource for environmentally conscious gardeners.

“Anybody replacing carpet? I need the used stuff for my garden. One room-size will be enough!” Tindall wrote in her post to the community group.

The Van Buren County Community Bulletin has become an increasingly popular platform for residents to exchange services, items, and information. The group has seen significant activity, with service request posts becoming a common way for community members to connect and help one another.

Residents with carpet they are replacing and would like to donate or give away are encouraged to reach out through the Van Buren County Community Bulletin Facebook group. Those interested in connecting with Tindall can respond directly to her post on the community page.
